Fishing and smoking herring have been in the Arseneau family for three generations.
In 1996, with the return of herring around the Islands, the Arseneau brothers revived the operations of the Pointe-Basse smokehouse. Their prime goal was to preserve the family heritage buildings and bring the traditional method of smoking herring back to life.
The traditional method of smoking herring, passed on from father to son, guarantees the authenticity and quality of local products offered at Le Fumoir d’Antan.
