Notre histoire
Multidisciplinary artist, Martine Michaud first taught litterature and theater in colleges in the Montreal area. In the entertainment industry she won a Félix from ADISQ for the staging of the holophonic concert Kâ in 1989. She worked as the co-founder and president of a Montreal-based SMB, producing software and editing a general-public web magazine.
Since 2007, she has been exclusively focussed on visual arts. Her photography production includes reporting, portaits and abstract photocompositions, produced in digital darkrooms. Her works, signed Mishô, are presented to the public in many personal and group expositions since 2010. She is a member of the Artist Union and of the collective AME-ART (Mile-End artists). Her first book Bhutan, Lotus and Dragon is available on Portic.
She has dedicated herself to photography for many years, allowing her to accumulate an important corpus of thousands of pictures captured in several countries. An unstoppable traveller, she is especially interested in collectivities with strong and lively national cultures, despite the effect of globalization.
